The Torah (Pentateuch) is the most ancient and revered part of the Hebrew Scriptures, and so serves as a foundation and spring-board for the study of the entire Bible. This course will consist of a review of the methods of Old Testament research (from source criticism to modern literary analysis) and in-depth exegesis of selected texts from Genesis, Exodus, and Deuteronomy. (Prerequisite: SS 6300 Introduction to Sacred Scripture)
