This course introduces students to biblical wisdom literature and its formative role in the Old Testament. Focusing on Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Wisdom, Sirach, and the Song of Songs, the course situates these texts within their ancient Near Eastern context and explores their theological, ethical, and practical dimensions. Students will examine how wisdom literature contributes to Old Testament theology and contemporary Christian reflection, with attention to themes such as the fear of the Lord, creation and wisdom, the personification of wisdom, Torah and Wisdom, and the problem of human suffering
