The course covers the historical development of “Missionaries Oblates of Mary Immaculate.” Starting from its founding act in 1816, it will go through the international spread of the Congregation to current lines of development of its mission today. - Upon completion, the students will be familiar with the history of the global expansion of the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate from 1816 until the present; will understand how the charism of the Missionary Oblates has been expressed within the context of the Church’s evolving understanding of mission; should be able to apply the knowledge of the history and understanding of the charism to the context of their own country or Oblate unit; might identify, articulate and deepen their own understanding of missionary discipleship.
